Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted to announce that Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl on Monday morning, July 7, 2008 in the United States. Sunday Rose Kidman Urban weighed six pounds, seven and a half ounces (2.9 kilograms). Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side and mother and baby are very well.

Naomi Watts has revealed she has been giving her mate tips on what to expect, after giving birth to her first son Alexander last July.

“Whenever you’re pregnant, you always call on your pregnant friends to compare notes,” Watts said this week. “That’s what happens in close friendships.”

When asked at a press conference for her new fragrance deal if Kidman will be a good mother, Watts said: “Of course. She’s already a great mum.”

It is sure to cause a stink with her fans, but pregnant Nicole Kidman has been dumped as the face of perfume giant Chanel. The 40-year-old actress has been replaced as the face of Chanel No.5 by French beauty Audrey Tautou, best known for her Oscar-nominated title role in Amelie. Meanwhile things are smelling rosy for 29-year-old Tautou who will be reunited with Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet calling the shots for the advertisment campaign. The dumping of Kidman is the latest blow to hit the Australian’s career since her latest films, including Stepford Wives and Bewitched, have been major box office disappointments. Movie sources have apparently begun to question Kidman’s 10 million movie price tag following the movie roles.

Tom Cruise sat on a couch with Oprah Winfrey, but this time he refrained from jumping up and down on it. In Cruise’s first interview with the TV talkshow queen since his infamous 2005 couch bouncing incident, the actor was cool and calculated and dismissed rumours of a phony marriage to actor Katie Holmes and bad blood with his Australian ex-wife Nicole Kidman.

Cruise described his relationship with Kidman as “good” and “easy”. Kidman and Cruise, who divorced in 2001, adopted two children, Connor and Isabella during their 10-year union, and tabloids have alleged Kidman has little to do with her son and daughter. Winfrey repeatedly probed Cruise about the reports.

Oprah: “I read that she (Kidman) had been pushed out of the children’s lives. That’s what I read, Tom. So, true or not true?”

Tom: “No, that’s ridiculous.”

Oprah: “The children still maintain a relationship with her and see her?”

Tom: “Absolutely.”

Oprah: “Is there a time when everybody is together - Kate and Nicole and the family?”

Tom: “No, not like that. I mean, because (we’re) just so busy. It’s not that it’s not like that, but it hasn’t eventuated in that way. We share custody. Whenever. Whenever. That’s when it is.”

Australian actress Nicole Kidman is to play Dusty Springfield in a new biopic of the singer’s life. The 40-year-old star is to team up again with Michael Cunningham - who scripted her Oscar-winning performance in 2002’s The Hours. The movie will chronicle Springfield’s rise to fame in the 1960s and touch on her battles with alcohol, drugs and mental health problems before her death from breast cancer in 1999.

Script-writer Cunningham says: “It will be the real Dusty. A great artist who no one knew what to do with. But she is going into history with The Beatles and the Rolling Stones.”

Nicole Kidman’s father has undergone heart surgery in Australia, according to reports. The actress’ sister Antonia Kidman revealed the news on Monday at a TV prize giving in Sydney. Collecting the Astra Award for Favorite Female Personality, Antonia held back tears as she accepted the honor onstage at the Hordern Pavilion. She said, “It is a sweet end to a sad day because my dad’s in hospital.” She refused to reveal more, but reports suggest the Kidman patriarch, a renowned psychologist, underwent scheduled heart surgery hours before his daughter collected her TV award.
